GREATNESS

(a poem i wrote for a kids drama club i volunteered at)

Great things come from nothing
the very mountains that tower above you
were once the ground beneath your feet
the birds that soar, the lions that roar
were once little chicks and kittens

Greatness is a river
a journey through learning things new
about the world and people you meet
because the more that you know, the river grows and flows
once a little stream, now thickened, roars

nothing is impossible
every perspective can be seen from a different view
you need to see the path to accomplish your feats
every singer and every winner
were once a child whose written that:

Greatness is in me

UNDERSTANDING (something beginning with U)

EYE for eye they say
SPY on your enemies keep them closer than friends
WITH every ounce of hatred seek revenge
MY resentment fuels violence but
LITTLE do i know
I have no enemies

SOMETHING is always lost through conflict i am
BEGINNING to understand that
WITH violence the world is blind, and healing this starts with me and
